Scholar lands professor position at Vassar College |

She started college at 15, began working on her Masters degree at 19 and by the time she was 26, Tiffany was Dr Lightbourn with a PhD.Her honors along the way included: president of her senior class at Beloit College, Minority Student of the Year in the United States (American Psychological Association); a National Science Foundation Fellowship; Magna Cum Laude (University of Michigan); Honorable Mention in the Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship Competition; Phi Beta Kappa; Rackham (UM Graduate School) Merit Fellowship; the American Psychological Foundation. Dissertation Research Award (for her exceptional dissertation on anti-immigration sentiment in the Bahamas). And now Dr Lightbourn is a college professor at one of the toughest and most prestigious schools in the US, Vassar College, the small liberal arts school that is the sister school of Yale University. She is assistant professor of Psychology and Urban Studies. This summer she will conduct research on the Bahamian medias coverage of Haitian immigration a first in a series of research projects she hopes will benefit all who live in The Bahamas. One lucky Vassar student will work along with her. |
