British Chevening winners bound for England

  British High Commissioner Peter Heigl hosted a lunch in honor of three young Bahamian professionals awarded British Chevening Scholarships this year. Roger Kelty represented the Lyford Cay Foundation, which has generously contributed toward the UK scholarships. Several Bahamian Chevening graduates also attended.  

  This year’s award recipients are: Donovan Dorsett, Royal Bahamas Police Force (attached to the Attorney-General’s Office) to read law at Kings College, London; he will specialize in international economic and criminal law and industrial and intellectual property; Hank Ferguson, Ministry of Economic Development, will study for an M.A. degree in international political economy at Newcastle University, and Sherrine Thompson will pursue her M.A. degree in records and archives management at University College London.

Another great report from scholar

  Venesha Palacious, who is studying Emergency Medical Services at Broward Community College, Fort Lauderdale, has been named Valedictorian of the Emergency Medical Technician Course. Work included stints at Broward General Hospital and Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Station, where she is pictured, at right. Venesha is a graduate of Freeport Anglican High School.
